Manufacturing Sector Surge and High Power Demand pushes Industrial Growth to 8%, Capital Goods Expansion Signals Strong Business opportunities

India’s industrial output recorded a remarkable growth of 8 percent in the month of August, accelerating from a revised 7.4 percent in July, according to official data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The uptick was driven by strong performances in manufacturing and electricity, alongside a sharp surge in the capital goods sector.

The acceleration in India's industrial growth was driven by a broad-based manufacturing recovery and a sharp surge in capital goods output. However, a 5.6% contraction in mining and quarrying served as a primary friction point against a higher overall growth rate reported by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

India's industrial output sustained robust momentum with an 8% growth rate in August, supported by three consecutive months of strong manufacturing expansion that exceeded market expectations. The surge in capital goods and consumer durables reflects proactive factory production ahead of the festive season. However, a persistent contraction in the mining sector served as the primary headwind, restraining an even stronger overall economic performance.
