THE A. D. SHROFF MEMORIAL LECTURE
On Monday, 2nd December 2024, the Department of Economics attended the Bhogilal Leherchand and A.D. Shroff Memorial Lecture at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, Mumbai. This was the 96th lecture in the A.D. Shroff Memorial Lecture Series and commenced at 6:00 PM. The theme for the evening was “Ethics and Communal Harmony and Its Impact on Sustainable Development and Economy”, delivered by Najeeb Jung, former Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, followed by a conversation with senior journalist Shekhar Gupta.

On September 14, 2024, the Economic Association of KJ Somaiya College held its inauguration ceremony. The inauguration ceremony was a resounding success, with Dr. Sanjay Phad’s blend of personal stories, professional advice, and academic guidance inspiring students and providing practical insights into career prospects and research methodologies.

On August 7, 2024, the Economics Association hosted a significant event that focused on India's new Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.

On July 30, 2024, the Economics Association partnered with the Praja Foundation to host an event introducing the foundation and providing insights into its upcoming competition, Prajatantra. Mr. Chahat Bitale, a fellow of the Praja Foundation, began with a compelling prologue emphasizing the importance of governance and our collective responsibility in addressing social issues. The foundation's three primary objectives include training councilors, raising awareness among youth, and conducting research.

The students of the department of Economics of KJSAC attended an event at Victor Menezes Convention,IIT Bombay.The keynote and esteemed speaker Prof. Michael Sandel delivered a thought- provoking closing address with his insights and fascinating experiences which made students rethink their perspectives about economics and understand the subject with more informative thoughts.

Journey of Financial Service: Rebirth of Bajaj Finance (Seminar by Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The students arrived at the Mumbai University Fort Campus around 4 pm. Upon entering, they were guided to their seats by student volunteers, and the event commenced shortly afterward. Mr. Sameer Somaiya presided as the speaker and extended felicitations to the two Chief Guests of the evening, Mr. Sanjiv Bajaj (Chairman and Managing Director of Bajaj Finverse) and Mr. Amit Chandra (Chairperson of Bain Capital India Pvt. Ltd).

On the occasion of world Humanitarian Day,The Economics Association hosted a seminar on achieving a Plastic Free Environment. The seminar featured Mr. Govind Punde, an executive from Sampurn Earth Environment Solutions. WEBSITE BUILDING WORKSHOP
The website development program for the Economics Association aimed to teach technical skills. Day 1 featured a tutorial on website building by an alumnus. Day 2 provided hands-on training in the IT lab, enabling participants to create and publish their websites, followed by receiving e-certificates.

The purpose of the program was to make students aware of the history of Economics its evolution over time and its importance and impact in day-to-day life. There were 96 viewers, and 32 speakers, all the teachers of the Economics department of KJSAC.

The 56th AD Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition for College Students was held on 12th November 2022 in the Conference Hall. The purpose of the program was to create awareness regarding the various topics of the current world. A total of 35 students became part of this event.

The event began with introductions by the host and campus prayer. Dr. Shubhangi Patil introduced the Economics Association and its activities. The 'FINCREDIBLE' newsletter, covering finance and investment topics was unveiled. Mr. Maurya Hanspal conducted a career guidance session. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and a vote of thanks.

Khushiyaan Foundation, registered under Mumbai Public Trust Act and Societies Registration Act, runs projects like Roti Ghar, Naari Shakti, Beach Warriors, and Project Paathshala, aiming to provide food, women's empowerment, cleanliness, and education. The Economics Department of KJ Somaiya College collaborates with Khushiyaan Foundation, with active student participation for societal betterment.
