The smart card replaces paper tickets and offers free bus travel for women and transgender residents, for safe and easy travel
The Delhi government on monday launched the 'Saheli Pink Smart Card', a digital travel pass that allows eligible women and transgender passengers to travel free of cost on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses. These cards were issued and distributed at nearly 50 centres across Delhi, marking a strong start for the scheme. The card replaces the older pink paper ticket system while integrating modern technology for safer and smoother travel.
Linked with passenger's Aadhaar and mobile numbers, the Saheli smart cards also works as a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), enabling seamless access across other transport systems like the Delhi Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) when topped up.
Officials say this initiative will make public transport more accessible, reduce daily travel costs for women, and support safer commuting in the national capital. With this facility, female commuters no longer need to carry multiple tickets or payment methods when switching between buses, metro trains, and RRTS services reducing hassle and delays for women passengers
