New bus service launched as 'Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Seva' across seven cities to improve connectivity

The Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Yadav on Friday launched the Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva in Bhopal, for better transport in both intercity and intracity bus operations between cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Sagar and Rewa.

The government plans 1,500 buses in the first year and aims to connect 75% of gram panchayats. With the Partnership of PM E-Bus Service the added E-Buses will promote cleaner and greener transport. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari noted that transport sector accounts for around 40 per cent of air pollution. The earlier state transport corporation, shut in 2005, had over ₹750 crore debt and monthly losses of around ₹5 crore.

The new service will operate through private providers under a PPP (Public Private Partnership) model. MPYPIL (Madhya Pradesh Yatri Parivahan and Infrastructure Limited) will oversee the programme, with seven regional companies managing intercity operations and new bus terminals planned under same. This will provide enhanced public transport, and ease of travel to passengers.
